NORFOLK, Va. — A new proposal is on the table to extend health care insurance premiums.

Rep. Jen Kiggans (VA-2) and Rep. Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) are asking Senate leaders to consider a new framework that would extend Affordable Care Act (ACA) tax credits for the next two years.

The timing of the new proposal is critical; it comes only a few weeks before thousands of Virginians could see a hike in insurance premiums when ACA tax credits expire on January 1.

For months, Democrats have asked for a clean extension of ACA tax credits, while some Republicans have said there needed to be reform before they would agree to any extension.

Now, with the looming expiration of ACA tax credits around the corner, Kiggans is calling Senate leaders to act now.
