The L.A. County Commission on Human Relations said there were 1,355 reported hate crime victims in the county during 2024, a 1% decrease from the prior year.
The report’s authors said the continued high rate of hate crimes can partly be attributed to improved reporting and partnerships between law enforcement agencies and community organizations.
Sheriff Robert Luna said any victim who reports a hate crime will not be scrutinized by his agency for their immigration status.
