VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – Two men playing cards in an RV park near Ormond Beach were left without thousands of dollars after being approached by so-called lottery winners, according to the Volusia Sheriff’s Office.
In a release , deputies said the incident happened on Wednesday, when the suspects approached the men while claiming to have “just won the lottery.”
“These suspects had an amazing offer,” the release reads. “Whatever cash the victims had on hand, they’d double it.”
As a result, one of the victims retrieved $2,500 and handed it over. The other victim was about to hand over $5,000, though the money was quickly snatched out of his hand, deputies added.
Soon after, law enforcement was notified about what happened, and the suspects left, possibly in a gray/silver SUV, according to
