On Friday, I’ll be standing outside for a couple hours, selling newspapers until my fingers and toes are numb, and it’s probably the most meaningful thing I’ll do this holiday season. Every year, our newsroom fans out to diners, gas stations, and street corners around Central New York selling special editions of The Post-Standard to raise money for the Hope for the Holidays – “Old Newsboys” campaign.
Former Post-Standard employee Tom Brown, chairman of the campaign, has been involved with it for the past 40 years. He says the goal this year is to raise $50,000, an increase over the $36,000 raised last year. “Our main purpose is to raise money to buy food, clothing and toys for families in need at Christmas.
