The U.S. Supreme Court ruled in favor of Texas Republican leaders, allowing the state to use new redistricting maps for the 2026 midterm elections despite accusations of racial profiling .

In an unsigned ruling, the Supreme Court justices ruled in a majority decision that a three-judge District Court panel in El Paso that barred the map for being used, "failed to honor the presumption of legislative good faith by construing ambiguous direct and circumstantial evidence against the Legislature."

It goes on to state, "The District Court improperly inserted itself into an active primary campaign, causing much confusion and upsetting the delicate federal-state balance in elections."

Justice Samuel Alito, in a concurring opinion joined by Justices Clarence Thomas and Neil Gorsuch, wrote
