Thomas Markle senior's son has given a key update on his dad's health.

The former TV lighting director, 81, is now in a "stable" condition but remains in intensive care, Tom Jr said last night. His father was taken to hospital in the Philippines on Tuesday , after he became seriously ill at his home. He had a three-hour operation, from which it is said he is now recovering.

Tom Jr, 59, said last night: "I went to see Dad today. He is heavily medicated on painkillers and other drugs. He is hooked up to all kinds of machines. He's pretty much out of it. The doctors say he is stable, which is good news. He is a brave
