CRAVEN COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - While some find this to be the most wonderful time of the year with red and green all around, for many, it can be a nightmare.
The Coastal Center of Hope and Healing finds the season to be a little different, where they even have a different approach to decorating their tree with purple ribbons.
“We do see a rise in domestic violence situations this time of year. Our crisis line sees an increase in calls, and foot traffic in our office tends to go up as well,” Director Amanda Delgado said.
The organization is a non-profit that specializes in assisting individuals in domestic violence situations.
Delgado says they typically see a 20% increase in domestic violence-related calls, which even law enforcement sees at this time of year.
