As a young boy, I would sit on the front porch with my grandfather and listen to his stories of his youth in “the old country.” Later, as an adult, I visited “the old country,” his hometown and newfound Italian relatives. I even saw the house he grew up in. That experience spurred me on to do extensive research on my family -- which has been immensely enjoyable.

To honor my grandparents, I decided to seek Italian (dual) citizenship -- which I obtained after almost a three-year effort. At no time did I violate any laws or consider it an act of disloyalty to the country of my birth, America.

Now, a grandstanding Sen. Bernie Moreno -- in an effort to curry favor with his boss (Donald Trump) and his base -- wants to take my dual citizenship away (“ Goodbye, dual world? ” Dec. 3). I suggest
