The Toronto Maple Leafs just can’t catch a break. After a slow start to the season, injuries continue to hit the team at the worst possible time. On Thursday night, things went from bad to worse when goalie Joseph Woll left the game with a lower-body injury during a 5-1 win over the Carolina Hurricanes.
Woll started the game and looked sharp, stopping 22 of 23 shots through two periods. But he did not return for the third, with the Maple Leafs PR later confirming he had suffered a lower-body injury. Dennis Hildeby came in to close out the game and finished with nine saves. The Leafs won, but the concern was clear.
This adds to Toronto’s growing list of injuries. They are already without their No. 1 goalie, Anthony Stolarz, who has not returned to skating since suffering an upper-body inj
