The University of La Verne women’s volleyball team had to work overtime Thursday night, but the Leopards eventually finished the job
Mya Ray’s seventh kill in the fifth set and her 36th of the match brought a marathon session to an end, as No. 4-seeded La Verne outlasted No.8-seeded Berry College of Georgia 26-28, 25-17, 25-22, 22-25, 15-13 in an NCAA Division III semifinal match at the Shirk Center Arena in Bloomington, Ill.
La Verne will play for a national championship for the first time since 2008, which was the previous time the Division III national tournament was played at the Shirk Center Arena on the campus of Illinois Wesleyan University. This marks the fifth time the Leopards have reached the Division III finals. La Verne claimed Division III national championship in the 1982
