WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Wichita State University sent a letter to staff and faculty saying that they will make at least a 3% budget cut next year and also reduce its workforce.
WSU President Rick Muma said that even though the university saw record enrollment this fall, that didn’t translate to revenue growth. This is partly due to low enrollment of international students, as well as high school students.
Wichita State also said that state funding is not keeping pace. Some staff members report already receiving termination letters. 12 News spoke with some of these employees who asked to remain anonymous.
At least seven employees in the College of Engineering were informed that their positions were being eliminated due to budget constraints. The employees added that they are disappointed
