DETROIT- The Detroit Lions desperately needed a win at home against the Cowboys on Thursday to keep the playoffs in sight.
According to The Athletic, Detroit’s postseason chances would go to 45 percent with a win, and go down to 12 percent with a Thursday loss.
Detroit would get the ball first and add a field goal to open scoring, which the Cowboys quickly matched. The two teams would then trade 3-and-outs on the following possessions, though the Cowboys narrowly escaped a safety before punting.
A solid punt return and 26-yard completion to Amon-Ra St. Brown would then move Detroit quickly down the field, and a Jahmyr Gibbs 1-yard Touchdown Run would make the score 10-3 in the closing minutes of the first quarter.
