The capital is witnessing a steady climb in literacy levels, with women emerging as the leading force behind this educational progress. Recent trends highlighted in the report, ‘Women and Men in Delhi-2025’, issued by the Directorate of Economics and Statistics of the Delhi government, reveal that women’s participation in both schools and higher education is ahead compared to their counterparts.

The literacy rate in the Capital has shown a consistent rise, climbing from 38.36 per cent in 1951 to 86.21 per cent in 2011, according to the population census.
