Richmond teachers strike continues after agreement was not reached

As one of the Richmond teachers’ strike comes to a close, a Thursday night meeting between the teachers union and school district did not result in an agreement between both sides, which means some teachers will be returning to the picket line Friday morning instead of their classrooms.

As teachers, staff, and parents picketed outside of the Alvarado Adult School in Richmond, a meeting was taking place inside of the school between the Richmond Teachers Union and members of the West Contra Costa Unified School District.

Both sides are at an impasse on a new contract, with teachers calling for better pay to keep teachers from leaving the district.
