A County Durham school has had the "incredible" exam results of its students recognised by winning three prestigious awards.

St Leonard’s RC School in Durham has been named State Secondary School of the Year in the North East, State Secondary School of the Year for Academic Excellence, and Comprehensive School of the Year in The Sunday Times Parent Power Guide 2026.

The list recognises the UK’s highest-achieving primary and secondary schools, ranked by examination results, and is now in its 33rd edition.

The results comes after St Leonard's was plunged into crisis in September 2023 when buildings were found to be riddled with crumbling reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (RAAC).
