Motorists in the Essex area this morning faced traffic woes as an incident prompted the closure of one of the two lanes on a stretch of the M11.

The motorway was partially closed northbound between junctions 8a (A120 Stansted Airport) and 9 (A11 Newmarket). National Highways said on December 5, shortly after 7am: "1 lane (of 2) closed for recovery of a car which left the nearside of the road this morning." The organisation added at approximately 7.30am that motorists faced 90 minutes delays against expected traffic.
