New York Attorney General Letitia James has responded after a federal grand jury declined to reindict her on bank fraud and false statement charges, marking the second time prosecutors have refused to advance the case.
The decision follows a federal judge's earlier dismissal of the initial indictment on the grounds that it had been presented by an unlawfully appointed prosecutor.
James addressed the latest development on Thursday, writing on X: "As I’ve said from the start, these charges are baseless. It’s time for the weaponization of our justice system to stop.
"I’m grateful to the members of the grand jury and humbled by the support I’ve received across the nation. I will keep doing my job standing up for New Yorkers."
