Anyone who has taken a flight in the U.S. in the last 20 years knows that the days of luxury sky travel are gone. Nowadays, half-asleep travelers arrive in mismatched shoes with neck pillows draped around their heads. While the likes of United Airlines have clothing bans in place that can lead to passengers being kicked off their flight , it hasn't stopped the parade of colorful, often eccentric outfits that pass through airports.

In a press conference just before Thanksgiving , U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy urged flyers to "dress up to go to the airport" again, part of a larger campaign to return to the "Golden Age" of travel. By dressing better, Duffy argued, people will behave better, helping air travel run more smoothly.
