Since September 2022, more than 8320 teaching positions have been filled with 1129 SC posts, 551 ST posts, 1917 OBC posts and 420 EWS posts in the Central Universities, as shared by the Ministry of Education in the Rajya Sabha.

In 2023, the University Grants Commission ( UGC ) has set up a unified recruitment portal — CU-Chayan — to provide a common platform for listing of vacancies, advertisements and jobs across all Central Universities. The Commission also asked all the central universities to publish rolling advertisements on their websites throughout the year to address the difficulties faced in getting eligible candidates.
