Star Pakistan batter Fakhar Zaman has been penalised for an ICC Code of Conduct breach, after he was involved in a war of words with the on-field umpire over his dismissal. He was fined 10% of his match fee for the Level 1 breach during the recent tri-series final against Sri Lanka.

Zaman was found guilty of breaching Article 2.8 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which pertains to ‘showing dissent at an umpire’s decision during an international match’.

One demerit point has been added to Zaman’s disciplinary record, his first offence in the past two years.

The incident occurred in the 19th over of Pakistan’s innings, when Zaman engaged in a prolonged exchange with the on-field umpires after a decision that led to his dismissal.
