The Pirates continue to pop up as a possible trade destination for Mets veteran Jeff McNeil.

Pittsburgh is on the hunt for offensive upgrades this winter after yet another disappointing season in 2025. Clearly they’re willing to part with pitching in order to improve their lineup’s ceiling. On Thursday night, the Pirates traded right-hander Johan Oviedo to the Red Sox in exchange for outfielder Jhostynxon Garcia and right-handed prospect Jesus Travieso.

According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic , Pittsburgh could turn to McNeil — or another veteran on the trade block like Tampa Bay Rays second baseman Brandon Lowe — as they strive to add multiple regulars in addition to less proven position players.
