A CHARITY has slammed the UK Government for “ignoring” migrant children in its plan to tackle poverty.
On Thursday, Prime Minister Keir Starmer set out the Labour Government’s Child Poverty strategy, saying that there is a “basic moral argument” for tackling the issue.
Around 4.5 million children are living in poverty in the UK, and the strategy largely hinges on the £3 billion decision to scrap the two-child benefit cap.
The limit being removed was announced by Rachel Reeves at the Budget last month, and had been long called for by campaigners.
In July 2024, just after Labour won the General Election, Starmer suspended the whip from seven MPs after they voted against the Government on an SNP amendment to scrap the two-child benefit cap.
