Man City midfielder Rodri has not been passed fit to face Sunderland, Pep Guardiola has confirmed.
The Ballon d’Or winner Rodri tore his ACL last season and has struggled to keep fit in the new campaign.
The Spaniard came off just 21 minutes into City’s 1-0 win over Brentford on October 5, and has played just one minute of competitive football since.
He has been recovering from a suspected hamstring injury and was thought to be pushing for a comeback this weekend, but Guardiola has now confirmed he will not be involved.
Asked whether Rodri could appear against Sunderland , Guardiola said: “No, but he is getting better.”
Pressed as to whether Rodri could return to face Real Madrid in the Champions League next week, Guardiola was coy: “Ask me in Madrid.”
