Shillong, Dec 5: A man has been convicted and sentenced to 15 years’ rigorous imprisonment for penetrative sexual assault of a child by the court of Special Judge B Khriam in Khliehriat.

An FIR was filed at Khliehriat Women’s Police Station and charge sheet filed in April 2024 against one Batista Paslein under provisions of the Indian Penal Code and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

In addition to the custodial sentence, Paslein was also ordered to pay a fine of Rs 50,000, a press release from the East Jaintia Hills police informed.
