LOUISVILLE, Ky. — In a 13-12 vote, the Louisville Metro Council voted down a mask ordinance Dec. 4 that would have banned law enforcement officers from concealing their identities while doing police work.

Metro Councilman J.P. Lyninger, D-District 6, led the efforts to make this policy change. He said people in his district raised concerns to him about actions taken by federal immigration agents in Louisville and other cities.

Council members who voted against the ordinance said they believe the change would've been considered anti-police, raised concerns about publishing private or identifying information online of law enforcement officers without their consent and did not believe it would have been enforceable.
