After a brief lull in activities, Maoist insurgents have once again made their presence felt in the border regions of Belghar and Kotgarh police stations in Odisha’s Kandhamal district.
A joint combing operation conducted by Special Operations Group (SOG) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel led to a direct confrontation with Maoists in the dense Mundimaska forest under Bilamal panchayat.
The encounter unfolded when security forces came face-to-face with the insurgents, resulting in an intense exchange of gunfire between the two sides. The skirmish lasted for some time before the Maoists reportedly dispersed and fled the scene. No casualties have been reported so far from either side.
