New Delhi, December 5, 2025: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha has introduced a Private Member’s Bill in Parliament proposing strict punishment for acts of sacrilege against major religious scriptures, including Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, Bhagwat Gita, the Holy Quran, and the Holy Bible.
The Bill seeks to amend the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, to classify sacrilege of these holy texts as a serious offence punishable with the maximum penalty under law. Chadha said the legislation aims to uphold religious harmony and ensure stringent deterrence against such acts of desecration.
