Autumn Budget anxiety appears to have hit the high street hard last month, as new data confirms retail footfall fell year-on-year in November.
The British Retail Consortium (BRC) revealed UK retail footfall dropped 0.8 per cent year on year last month, with the reduction suggested to have been caused by anxieties surrounding proposed tax hikes, in addition to bad weather conditions.
This decrease was higher than the 0.7 per cent fall that was recorded in the year prior to this. Other drops reported include retail park footfall which went down 0.4 per cent last month.
Looking at high street footfall in general, this went down 1.2 per cent on a monthly basis. When taking a glance at shopping centres, the BRC concluded footfall in the venues decreased by 1.3 per cent in Novembe
