Lane Kiffin made the biggest move of the 2025 coaching carousel thus far when he left Ole Miss for LSU at the end of the regular season.

However, there is another job that Kiffin reportedly hoped would open up, according to college football expert Todd McShay.

The former ESPN reporter joined the Bill Simmons podcast this past week and said that Kiffin really wants to be the head coach at Alabama -- the place where he worked as an assistant under legendary coach Nick Saban.

“The same people that told me Friday night that (Kiffin to LSU is) done and he’s got a place, basically, and everyone in his circle knows that he’s going to LSU, the same people were telling me, ‘You watch, it will not be announced, it will not be official until after that Alabama game,’” McShay said.
