New Delhi: With Sanju Samson traded to Chennai Super Kings (CSK), the Rajasthan Royals (RR) are looking for a new captain ahead of the IPL 2026. Riyan Parag’s name is at the top of the list, after the batter had led the side in eight matches last season, when Samson was injured.

Parag has been leading Assam in domestic cricket, including the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy and said that he captained in seven to eight matches in the IPL last season. He further added that when they would analyse decisions in the dressing room, he had done things right 80 to 85 per cent.

He also said that team owner Manoj Badale told him that the decision on captaincy will be taken after the IPL mini-auction, which is scheduled for December 16 in Abu Dhabi.
