Pop star Katy Perry paused her Lifetimes world tour to join her boyfriend, former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, for a mid-day lunch with former Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and his wife Yuko in Tokyo this week.

Sharing a photo from the meeting on social media, Kishida wrote, “Former Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau came to Japan with his partner Katy Perry and had lunch with us,” describing the visit as a continuation of the friendship built during Trudeau’s time in office.

He highlighted their previous collaboration on the Japan-Canada Action Plan and noted Trudeau’s visit to the Atomic Bomb Museum during the G7 Hiroshima Summit. “I am delighted that we continue to maintain this friendship in this way,” Kishida added.
