One hundred and sixty-two days after she was ‘pushed back’ to Bangladesh following her detention in Delhi as an “illegal immigrant”, a pregnant Sunali Khatun and her eight-year-old son were finally brought back to India, in compliance with a Supreme Court order issued Wednesday.

However, four others — Danish Sheikh (Sunali’s husband) and Sweety Bibi along with her two children — remain in Bangladesh. All six had been deported together. Both families, including a pregnant Sunali, were arrested and jailed in Bangladesh after being pushed back.
