Amid the ongoing Karthigai Deepam lamp row in Tamil Nadu, the BJP on Friday launched an attack on the DMK-led government, accusing it of being “anti-Hindu" and of preventing devotees from performing a long-standing religious ritual at the Thiruparankundram hill near Madurai.

In a post on X, the BJP’s Tamil Nadu unit alleged that the state government had “wilfully defied" a court order by stopping devotees from lighting the sacred Karthigai Deepam lamp atop the temple hill.

The anti-Hindu DMK government has once again willfully defied the court’s order by stopping devotees from lighting the sacred Karthigai Deepam lamp atop the Thiruparankundram temple hill. 🪔❌This hatred for Hindus is not new.
