WASHINGTON — The draw featured FIFA President Gianni Infantino presenting a new award to U.S. President Donald Trump.

Friday's drawing at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., featured all sorts of pomp and glam, including an appearance by Trump.

The U.S. president worked closely with FIFA President Gianni Infantino to move the draw to the Kennedy Center after it was speculated to take place in Las Vegas.

FIFA honored the president during the ceremony by awarding him a newly created peace prize.

“This is your prize, this is your peace prize,” Infantino said. He has repeatedly spoken about soccer as a unifier for the world, but the prize is a departure from the federation’s traditional focus on sport.
