WASHINGTON — The 2026 World Cup draw featured FIFA President Gianni Infantino presenting a new award to U.S. President Donald Trump.
Friday's drawing at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., is featuring all sorts of pomp and glam, including an appearance by Trump.
The U.S. president worked closely with FIFA President Gianni Infantino to move the draw to the Kennedy Center after it was speculated to take place in Las Vegas.
FIFA honored the president during the ceremony by awarding him a newly created peace prize.
Trump, who has campaigned for a Nobel Peace Prize, was awarded FIFA's own peace prize that Infantino established after traveling to several events with Trump.
“Every nation and every culture has wished for peace,” a video package announcing the award described.
