A man faces assault charges after officers with a warrant forced their way into a Durand Street house Thursday after an assault complaint and three-hour standoff, Sarnia police say.
A woman called police about 1 p.m. saying she’d been assaulted by a man, a former relationship partner who’d allegedly been drinking, whom she’d been visiting along with their young child, a police release said.
“An argument ensued, during which the victim was thrown to the floor and kicked,” police said. “As the victim tried to leave with the child, the male tried to pull the child away. Shortly after, they were able to leave the house, running to a nearby retail store to . . . call police.”
