Following his 2008 divorce from his high school girlfriend, Meredith Schwarz, the U.S. Secretary of Defense and former Fox News host welcomed three sons with his second wife, Samantha Deering.

Gunner was born in June 2010, followed by Peter Boone in August 2012 and Rex in October 2015. After Pete welcomed a daughter, Gwendolyn, with his former Fox colleague Jennifer Hegseth in August 2017, Deering filed for divorce.
