The Election Commission of India announced an extension of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) schedule in Kerala, adding an extra week for electoral processes due to upcoming local body elections.

The decision coincides with elections set to occur in two phases, on December 9 and 11. This move comes after Kerala, following a Supreme Court ruling, requested additional time to submit enumeration forms and complete associated procedures.

Under the new timeline, the draft electoral roll will be released on December 23, a week later than initially planned. The finalized electoral roll will see postponement from February 14 to February 21, 2026, ensuring accurate voter registry updates.
