Forensic team called in after human remains found

PADUCAH, Ky. (WSIL) -- Detectives from the McCracken County Sheriff's Office said they discovered human remains buried in a shallow grave on Broyles Avenue.

The scene is being treated as a crime scene, and a forensic anthropology team is expected to excavate the remains, the sheriff's office stated.

Authorities confirmed there is no threat to the public, though the cause of death remains unknown.

The sheriff's office said for the last several months, they have been investigating possible human remains buried on the property along this street.

The investigation is ongoing.
