GATLINBURG, Tenn. (WVLT) - A Gulfport, Mississippi Police Department sergeant was charged in Gatlinburg Tuesday with driving under the influence after police stopped him for using his emergency lights with an open beer in the car, according to a police report obtained by WVLT News.
It happened around 10:22 p.m., the report said, when Officer Myers with the Gatlinburg Police Department said he saw a black Ford Explorer driving with hidden emergency lights activated. Myers said he saw the car leave the correct lane of travel and briefly drive into oncoming traffic, the report said, prompting the stop near Anakeesta.
“Upon approach, I observed more emergency lights throughout the vehicle displayed in the 2nd & 3rd row windows,” Myers said.
The driver identified himself as Joseph James Prin
