Donald Trump was awarded the first FIFA Peace Prize at the World Cup Draw at the Kennedy Center on Friday.

The award was not much of a surprise, ever since FIFA announced it as a component of the event, which the president has promoted as a coup for the Kennedy Center, for which he serves as chairman.

Gianni Infantino, President of FIFA, said that the prize was in recogniztion of Trump’s “exceptional and extraordinary actions to promote peace and unity around the world.” He cited, among other things, the Abraham Accords in Trump’s first term, and the Gaza ceasefire in the president’s second.

Trump called it “one of the great honors of my life.” With a medal around his neck, Trump said, “beyond awards, Gianni and I were discussing this, we saved millions and millions of lives.”
