A Delaware County prison inmate and a Chester woman are facing charges after they conspired to smuggle drugs into the county prison during a Ridley court hearing.

The Delaware County Criminal Investigation Division has filed charges against Ahmad Smith, 32, and Aniya Kearney, 29, both of Chester, after prison guards found Smith smuggling illegal drug strips into George W. Hill Correction Facility.

County Detective Michele Deery details the facts in the affidavit of probable cause filed against Smith and Kearney:

On Nov. 10, Smith was taken to Ridley District Court in the basement of the Ridley Township Municipal Building for a scheduled 1 p.m. preliminary hearing after an arrest in Eddystone on charges of carrying a stolen firearm.
