TOLEDO, Ohio — Toledo Public Schools is sharing proposed plans for the 2026-27 school year and beyond to address its current financial situation as the district says it's faced with "significant" reductions in state and federal funding.

The proposals were shared in paperwork to union members and obtained by WTOL 11 on Friday.

As part of the district's transformation plans, it is weighing reductions in staff, including the possibility of laying off more than 100 teachers, according to Kevin Dalton, the president of the Toledo Federation of Teachers.

Dalton told WTOL 11 on Thursday that over 100 teachers represented by the union would be laid off before the next school year in August. He says teachers represented by other unions and other staff members could also be impacted.
