Manchester Evening News readers have weighed in on the row over the Manchester Town Hall refurbishment project row after more delays and costs were announced. An original projected completion date of spring 2024 has been well surpassed, with spring 2027 looking like a more realistic finish.
Council chiefs confirmed last week that an extra £95m is needed to finish restoring the grade-I listed town hall. The restoration of the 'neo-Gothic gem' is now expected to cost £525m in total, almost £200m more than the initial estimation.
One councillor branded the situation 'a disaster of project management' in the council chamber this week. Manchester Evening News readers have been having their say.
