KIM HELLBERG has sprung another team selection surprise, with Alex Gilbert handed his first Middlesbrough Championship start since the final day of the 2023/24 season for tonight's game at Hull City.
Gilbert is one of three changes for tonight's game from the side that started against Derby last weekend, with Riley McGree and David Strelec also coming into the side.
Alan Browne is missing from the squad all together and Delano Burgzorg and Sontje Hansen both drop to the bench.
It's Gilbert's first Championship start for Boro since the win over Watford on the final day of the 2023/24 season, and it's his first appearance since coming off the bench late on in the defeat to Preston in January of this year.
He joined Charlton on loan for the second half of last season later in the week.
