British singer-songwriter Yusuf Islam, also known as Cat Stevens, has announced the cancellation of his North American tour dates.

In a statement posted on Instagram , the musician said that he was forced to cancel tour stops in the United States and Canada due visa delays.

“Unfortunately, my North American Book Tour is officially cancelled,” he said. “Unpredictably, and befuddling to us all, the actual visa finally got delivered after the last scheduled date of the tour had passed.”

The artist who changed his name from Cat Stevens to Yusuf Islam in 1978 after converting to Islam, released his new autobiography, “ Cat on the Road to Findout ,” in October.
