BISMARCK — North Dakota Gov. Kelly Armstrong plans to call lawmakers back to the Capitol on Jan. 21 for a special session of the 69th Legislative Assembly to act on federal funding he is expecting for North Dakota’s Rural Health Transformation Program.
North Dakota submitted an application to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services on Nov. 3 to receive $500 million over five years to strengthen rural health care by improving access, quality and outcomes for North Dakotans in rural communities.
If North Dakota's application is approved when CMS awards the money on Dec. 31, the state Legislature must appropriate the dollars before they can be spent.
