MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - The Madison Police Department is investigating after a man allegedly threatened a woman with a gun and sexually assaulted her on Thursday, officials said Friday.

MPD said a witness saw a woman screaming in the road around 10:15 p.m. on Brentwood Parkway.

The woman told police she was walking on Spenser Lane when an SUV came up to her, MPD said. A man in the SUV allegedly threatened the woman with a gun and assaulted her inside the car.

The woman was able to get out of the car near the 2400 block of Brentwood Parkway, police said.

The woman was taken to the hospital where she reported being sexually assaulted.

Detectives are reviewing digital evidence in the case and are working to identify a suspect in the SUV.
