Dollar General’s takeover of the retail space is expected to continue in 2026 as the discount retailer confirmed more expansion is coming. In its third quarter report issued on Dec. 4, the company announced it plans to open 450 new stores in fiscal year 2026.

The company also plans to remodel an estimated 4,250 locations through a pair of programs it operates. An additional 20 stores will also be relocated within the next year, according to Dollar General.

“Our first priority is investing in the business, including our existing store base, as well as other high-return growth opportunities such as new store expansion, remodels and other strategic initiatives,” said Dollar General CFO Donny Lau, during an investor call.
