The United States and Mexico both received favorable draws in the group-stage draw for the 2026 World Cup.
The draw was held on Thursday at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., and slotted the 48 teams (43 have qualified, five are still-to-be-determined) into 12 groups of four. Those groups will have a round-robin to narrow the field to 32 for the knockout portion of the competition.
As hosts, the U.S., Mexico and Canada were given seeds, meaning they were guaranteed not to have to play the other nine seeded teams in the group stage. As it turns out, the U.S. and Mexico got somewhat favorable draws.

The United States is in Group D and will face Paraguay, Australia and the winner of a UEFA playoff featuring Türkiye, Romania, Slovakia and Kosovo. That Group C
